Amazing Amla - 'The Best Among Rejuvinative Herbs'
Amla is a tropical tree that grows throughout Asia. It has a long history in India and Indonesia and in Ayruvedic medicine is considered to be one of the most potent and nourishing herbs. All parts of the tree are used in herbal preparations including the fruit, seeds, leaves, roots, bark and flowers. Amla fruit is one of the most concentrated sources of Vitamin C in the plant kingdom, and it has active levels of flavonoids and tannins. Vitamin C is bonded to these tannins to protect it from being destroyed during digestion, by heat, or by light. The whole fruit is used so the Vitamin C is easily assimilated by the body.
