Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata var. genuina) Also known as ilang-ilang, Ilocano, allangigan, ylang ylang is a tropical tree that originates in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, and is commonly grown in Madagascar, Polynesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Costa Rica and the Comoros Islands. It is a fast-growing, tall tropical tree of the custard apple family Annonaceae with distinctive yellow, pink, or mauve flowers that have drooping, narrow petals
It is highly valued for the perfume extracted from its flowers, also called ylang-ylang. The tree is also called the fragrant cananga, Macassar-oil plant, or perfume tree.
